The total amount of real estate listed in the State of Maryland is just over $15.5 billion dollars. A total of 43,451 properties and lots are listed with an average asking price of $358,000. 

 

Baltimore represents the largest share of real estate for sale in Maryland. There were 5,155 properties listed in the MLS from Baltimore which represents 12% of the total properties for sale in Maryland. This is not surprising since Baltimore represents 14% of the population in Maryland. The sum of the asking prices of all the properties listed in Baltimore totals just under $1 billion dollars. There are five other communities with a total listing value in excess of $300 million dollars. Ocean City MD comes in second listing 1896 homes and lots with a total ask of $833 million. In third place was Annapolis real estate for sale with a total market ask of $560 million. The communities with the forth, fifth and sixth largest ask totals all had total asks in the lower $300 million range: Bethesda MD properties on the market totaled $336 million; Silver Spring MD homes and lots for sale total $333 million; and Potomac MD real estate for sale totals $311 million. 

 

Real estate in Sherwood MD has the highest average property value at $1.9 million. There are a total of fourteen communities in Maryland with an average asking price of over $1 million. Four of these cities have over 100 properties listed for sale: Potomac, MD with an average home price ask of $1,523,000; Chevy Chase MD with an average property ask price of $1,202,000; Earleville MD with an average property ask price of $1,092,000; and Bethesda MD with an average property ask of $1,083,000. The other communities on this list include: McDaniel MD, Oxford MD, Ruxton MD, Greensboro MD, Darnestown MD, Royal Oak MD, Glyndon MD, Garrison MD and Queenstown MD. 

 

There are eight communities with over 700 properties listed for sale in Maryland. These are: Baltimore MD with 5,155 properties, Ocean City MD with 1,896 homes, Silver Springs MD with 1,054 properties, Hagerstown MD with 965 homes, Frederick MD with 900 properties, Annapolis MD has 805 properties, Salisbury MD with 804 homes for sale, and Hyattsville MD has 719 homes listed for sale.
